Our role in the Community Outcomes Processes
The Department of Internal Affairs facilitates contact between local authorities and government agencies involved in the Community Outcomes Processes (COP).
Local authorities have a role in achieving community outcomes for their citizens for the economic, environmental, social and cultural wellbeing of communities, under the Local Government Act 2002. Some central government agencies also have a role in this.
How can we help you?
We have a dedicated team who liaise with local authorities and government agencies. The team has key responsibility to:
- Provide information and support to local authorities and central government agencies involved in the Community Outcomes Processes.
- Facilitate contact between local authorities and government agencies, through our relationship managers, and this website.
- Collate examples of good practice and make them available through our website, annual workshop and other means.
We administer a directory of central government agencies to help local authorities make contact with those in central government.
